THE VICTORIA FALLS

The Victoria Falls, 2 hours flight away from Windhoek or Johannesburg are located at the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Visiting the Victoria Falls is the perfect way to begin or end your tour in Southern Africa.
THE Falls
are one of the world's greatest natural spectacles. Declared a World Heritage Site, the Falls are the stuff of legends, romance and myth. Long before the Scottish missionary and explorer, Dr David Livingstone "discovered" the falls on November 16, 1855, the local Batonga people had named them Mosi-Oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders". The more prosaic Livingstone named them for his queen, but departed from his normal, pedestrian writing to observe in his diary that "scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight." The Falls and the village of the same name lie within a protected area neighbouring the Zambezi National Park. Today, the village of Victoria Falls can rightly claim the titre of "Adrenaline Capital of Africa".
Still essentially a village surrounded by African bush, Victoria Falls is home to a seemingly endless variety of adventure sports. Apart from its appeal
to adventure enthusiasts the village still has a gracious, pioneering, colonial flavour. But perhaps the greatest appeal is the constant lure of the Falls, A network of trails leads through the rain forest surrounding the smoke that thunders. Take an umbrella and raincoat and spend hours simply gazing at the incredible vistas of one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
We recommend a minimum stray of two night in Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone (Zambia).
